Open Project Wizard, under Java or Java Enterprise (in this case, the default application server is specified in the wizard) select Vaadin framework and the version of the framework (IntelliJ IDEA supports the Vaadin versions 6 and 7).
If you selected Java then after selecting Vaadin you might want to specify the Application Server. Select Application Server check box and specify what server you want use for your application. The default application server is Tomcat.
If you selected Java Enterprise then the default application server is specified without additional steps.
Creating Maven Project with Vaadin Archetype
In the Project Wizard, under Maven, select Create from archetype check box and click Add archetype. In the dialog that opens, enter maven GroupId, ArtifactId and Version.
After you click OK, the vaadin archetype is added to the list of available archetypes. Click Next.
