You can fold arbitrary blocks of code to a single line so that they stop distracting you from what you're focused on, but you still know they're there.

Here's the list of what you can fold/unfold with a simple press of Ctrl+NumPadPlus/Ctrl+NumPadMinus:

  • Code blocks (expressions surrounded by { and } braces)
  • Package references
  • Import lists
  • Block comments and docs
  • Template bodies

If a file begins with a block that can be folded (typically it's a copyright note, author info, etc.) it's automatically folded when you open it.
To what customize exactly is folded: open the Settings dialog, expand Code Style, Scala and open Code Folding.

Import lists are always automatically folded on opening a file.
