  1. Assuming that our app's source code is already opened in Visual Studio, we can run the profiler by choosing ReSharper | Profile | Profile Startup Configuration Performance Profiling.

To learn about different supported profiling types, see Choosing the Right Profiling Mode.

  2. To get the detailed results on a number of method calls, let's use the Tracing profiling type.
  3. After we click Run, dotTrace runs our app and a special dotTrace Performance Controller window used to get performance snapshots.
  4. Now, our goal is to reproduce the issue, and all we need to do is load the temperature graph by clicking the Load Temperature Data button .
  5. As soon as we've captured a representative snapshot, we click Get Snapshot'n'Wait in the dotTrace Performance Controller window. This will upload the snapshot to dotTrace Performance Viewer where we can take a detailed look at profiling results.
