What is Early Access Program

We at JetBrains believe that making tools for developers should greatly involve listening to developers. Our Early Access Program lets development community closely participate in discussions devoted to IntelliJ IDEA and influence development planning, from early stages onwards.
Early Access Program allows you to try pre-release versions of our software to evaluate features that will be added to the next release.

Be Careful

Icon

It is important to distinguish EAP from traditional pre-release software. Please note that the quality of EAP versions may at times be way below even usual beta standards.

  1. Chrome 34.0.1847.131 is blocking download of idealU-135.815.exe as "malicious". It provides explanation as this link: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/4412392?p=ib_download_blocked&rd=1. I have not encountered this before with EAP downloads.

    1. 135.863 does not have this issue.

  2. The latest release (135.908) is saying my Cardea evaluation has expired. I have a full license for IDEA 13.

    1. Never mind. I had to re-enter my license for some reason.

  3. After upgrading to OSx 10.10 Yosemite I cannot launch Intellij - I then installed ideaIU-135.1289.dmg (without JRE) and could still not launch.

The problem is caused by the <string>1.6*</string> line in /Applications/IntelliJ IDEA 13.app/Contents/Info.plist

    Bad value:

So I changed 1.6* to 1.7* and was then able to launch IntelliJ again.

    Good value:

The weird thing is that I still have 1.6, 1.7 and 1.8 installed on my system according to /usr/libexec/java_home -V

And each version can still be invoked:

    1. Manually installing latest Java update (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US) will likely to resolve the issue without changing Info.plist.

      1. You are correct - I now have "build 1.6.0_65-b14-466.1-11M4716" whereas before I installed the above link I had "build 1.6.0_65-b14-462" and can start IntelliJ without changing Info.plist to 1.7*.

Still a little surprising that the "build 1.6.0_65-b14-462" version was ok to use for IntellijJ 13 in OSx 10.9, but not ok after upgrading to OSx 10.10.
